End of year stats

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by FL Crew on 18-12-2009

Though I would pass on some stats on the File Locker .

There are over 15000 users and many thousands look to come back weekly. This information is take from the advertising tracking in the free version and I assume that the pay version would be similar.

Happy the app is useful for folks. I have plans for updates to the UI in the new year and additional functionality.

The free version had an update on Dec 17 and the update response has been excellent, this also means that the users can easily update the app using the In App Purchase option in the settings area of the app.

Feel free to visit the iTunes store and download either version the full paid version or the free version.

Please leave a rating and or a comment on iTunes as well.

Thanks to everyone who uses either version of the app. If you want some features please email us and we’ll see what we can do.

File Locker 1.3 ready for sale.

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by FL Crew on 13-11-2009

So happy to say that this was a very fast turn around on the review and approval process. Less than 10 days…

So this means that the new functionality is now ready and the Cloud service is ready for use.

Whats new for 1.3

AddFileView
- Support for MOV/M4V/MP4/MP3 files
- support for thefilelocker.com cloud service
DisplayFileView
- movie file play

Download from our cloud service.
The most important part in the “Cloud Service”. This basically means that if you need to get a file into File Locker then upload to our server, where you’ll be given an anonymous short url like “jk3er.jpg”, that you enter into the relevant screen in the app and the file will be downloaded to your device and removed from the server.

This is a new feature that will lead to other options in the new future.
More information when details are finalised.

If you haven’t got The File Locker go get it.

File Locker Free gets an update as well. In the new version of our free app you’ll get the create and edit text file feature. This is very handy to create those lists of things you want but not allow anyone to be able to see. These updates are only a few weeks away.

Feedback requests here and Twitter

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by FL Crew on 07-11-2009

For all the users of File Locker either the free or paid versions, it would be very appreciated if you could leave some feedback and a rating on iTunes.

There are well over 5000 users of the app in both versions.

A small request to help us out.

We also welcome feedback to the website via the contact form or via twitter now so you can follow us on twitter to get the latest news from the dev team.

So here for comment page

Response to Review

Well what can you do, obviously can please everyone, so I felt I had to respond to the review here as there was no other way to contact this person, the itunes name was “jmanfish”

Their review unedited below.

first off, the “Support” link in the app page is misleading – it goes into the author’s blog. all the comments there are CLOSED. that means no feedback, no way of asking questions.
second, you can NOT DELETE files once they’re in the application.
third, once you move files into the application, they STILL STAY in the original location (copies are made in the app.).
fourth, if you try moving files into the application, you have to rename them each and every time. there is no original name keeping, if you do not rename files they’ll show in the app w/ blank name and only the extension.
perhaps I’m thick, but I have found no instructions, there is no menu in the app, no accurate description before buying, I want my money back, sorry.

Now I’ll post it again with my response in green

FL Response [ Yes the link goes to the website for the app, well this site, where I have commentary, information and updates for the app. There are some posts which have comments turned of and other have comments on, some posts I don't feel require comments. On the site on the right hand side is the Contact Us link which is there for anyone to leave feed back and ask questions, which works fine for the requests I've had. ]

second, you can NOT DELETE files once they’re in the application.

FL Response [ As is common with a lot of table based applications when you swipe from left to right the edit function is activated and you can delete the file, admitted this is not clearly mentioned and I'll work out a way to make this feature more obvious ]

third, once you move files into the application, they STILL STAY in the original location (copies are made in the app.).

FL Response [ I believe you are responsible for deleting the original file, that would be your choice ]

fourth, if you try moving files into the application, you have to rename them each and every time. there is no original name keeping, if you do not rename files they’ll show in the app w/ blank name and only the extension.

FL Response [ I give the option to name the file as you like. I'll add a test to see if the user entered filename is empty and the use the original name as the file name, this will be added in an upcoming release ]

perhaps I’m thick, but I have found no instructions, there is no menu in the app, no accurate description before buying, I want my money back, sorry.

Fl Response [ I believe there is a fair bit of information on this site, I guess I could add a FAQ or a how to page, which I may do, however there is a lot of info here, update information future release info and more, but if you would like to know more use the contact form and let me know. As for the refund, if the reviewer sends me their address I'll send a $1 back to you. ]

Can’t please everyone, and the application is selling and by the look of the other reviews not to bad either. I update this application frequently and improve what I can when I can. I’ve implemented and will implement other suggestions from users. All I can say to “jmanfish” is thanks for taking the time to post your review, i’ll take what you say in good faith.

File Locker Free ready For sale

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by FL Crew on 19-09-2009

Have just been notified that the free version of File Locker is now ready for sale.

File locker free now on the app store

File locker free now on the app store get it now!

I’m hoping that this version will help promote the Paid version of File Locker.

I’ll put my stats up here when I get something solid.

Here’s some info

A version of File Locker has been changed slightly and is now awaiting approval for release. There are a number of differences between the free version and the paid version, these include an advertising banner at the top of the file list. For the in application advertising, we are using Mobclix as they offer a great variety of advertisers specifically for the mobile market.

There are also some minor functionality changes to differnciate free from paid, including removal of ‘Email this File’ and some file formats not supported. However if you would prefer to have all the functionality and no ads the full version is only .99c on the US store.
